Target Audience

This report is designed for Program Managers and Engineering Leaders who need to assess the overall status of committed features. The insights provided in this report can also be leveraged to effectively update their leadership teams.


Report Overview

The Feature progress report serves to:

  1. Highlight Flags: Display flags associated with issues, feature branches, and pull requests (PRs) tied to a feature.

  2. Showcase Issue Distribution: Showcase the distribution of issues across various categories, including:

    • Issues in the active sprint.
    • Issues planned for future sprints.
    • Issues in the backlog.
  3. Perform Build Issue Analysis: Provide a deep dive into build issues, covering:

    • The count of build issues.
    • Associated feature branches and PRs.
  4. Indicate Delivery Status: Indicate the delivery progress of the feature.


Feature Health Analysis

The report computes the health of a feature using:

  1. Delay Status: Assess delays impacting the feature.
  2. Artifact Flags: Evaluate the flags associated with artifacts tied to the feature.


Note: Rules for computing the health can be customized using the report configurator.



Optional Deep Dives

Users can explore a variety of data points across the following categories:

  1. Core Feature Data: Metrics shown in the Overview section, extracted from project management tools (e.g., Jira). These provide insights into execution performance and potential impediments.

  2. Deployment Data: Metrics in the Deployment Overview section (available when a CI/CD tool is integrated) offer insights on:

    • Deployment frequency.
    • Average deployments across environments.
    • The intent to not just build but also deploy features to end-users.
  3. Cycle Time Data: Metrics in the Cycle Time Overview section are derived from project management tools (e.g., Jira) and version control systems (e.g., GitHub). These metrics provide a holistic view of task completion.

  4. Pull Request/Merge Request Data: Metrics in the PR Breakdown section highlight progress and code quality associated with the feature.
